National Conference on Open Archaeology
April 3, 2025 - April 4, 2025
On April 3-4, 2025, Swedigarch, in collaboration with the Swedish National Heritage Board and the National Historical Museums, is organizing a national conference on open archaeology at the Historical Museum in Stockholm. The conference is aimed at all stakeholders and professionals within Swedish archaeology and cultural heritage management, such as researchers, contract archaeologists, students, government officials, museum professionals, cultural heritage administrators, specialists, and others.
The principles of open science represent a paradigm shift as more parts of the research process become open and accessible for everyone to use and participate in, both within and outside the research community.
Open science consists of several sub-areas (data, results and processes, publications), which both together and individually contribute to making research and scientifically based knowledge open. At the conference, we will discuss how Swedish archaeology can relate to the opportunities and challenges that open archaeology entails.
Keep a look out; more details will follow.
