September 17, 2024. Databases save time in both one’s own and others’ research projects, provided that the data is made accessible. That’s what environmental archaeologist Philip Buckland says in an interview with the magazine Curie. Phil leads module 4 of Swedigarch and is the director of SEAD and the new ArchLab infrastructure. He sees great potential in open databases but believes that the merit system and the perception of databases as a tool, rather than a source, create obstacles. Find out more here (in Swedish).
